I am very thankful to my education at the Lycée and to the excellent teachers I have had throughout my schooling and at university, Lille III and Bristol University. I hope that I follow in my teachers’ and tutors’ steps and pass on my knowledge and enthusiasm to those I teach. Over the last 35 years I have acquired a solid and diverse experience.
The readers of Tintin range from 7 to 77 years of age, well I can claim that my pupils have ranged from 5 to 88 years old!!
I started as a French Assistante who was only going to stay in England for 1 year. I have been an Adult Education tutor, a teacher of French in a secondary school, the Head of the French department in a preparatory school, I have taught A Levels in a College and was asked to teach and develop an undergraduate extra-mural course for the University of Southampton.
But it is as a freelance teacher and lecturer that I have grown my career. 30 years ago I created Tailored Languages, a company that employed tutors who taught Russian, German and French in the business environment. Today I am still working freelance. Recently I have also taught British personnel living and working in France. I teach in person and online.
The majority of my students learn French for leisure, intellectual exercise, holidaying in France or for business. I teach and help people to revise, learn and speak French in a studious but relaxed atmosphere. Learners can join a group, start a group or choose one to one tuition. I design and adapt courses to suit my students’ needs and interests in the French language.
I also organise French conversation breakfast, lunch or supper meetings: Le Club Pause-Café and Le Club à Table.
